Rosa's journey: Courage and tenacity to find the best IVF treatment

Rosa and Aldo

“Rosa’s journey: Courage and determination to find the best IVF treatment”

When we meet a new patient, she never arrives alone: she comes with her story, her doubts, her attempts, her fears and, above all, with a deep desire.
The story of Rosa, who now lives in Bari, Italy, with her husband Aldo and their son Giulio María—born on April 12, 2025—is one of those stories that remind us why we work every day.

Rosa and Aldo came to our clinic for the first time in April 2023. She was 35, and he was 40. After several years of trying and going through processes that had not given them clear answers, they decided to take a decisive step: to look for a real solution to start their family.

“We decided to come to Valencia because here we had hope”

When we asked her how she had heard about us, Rosa explained it with the sincerity that defines her:

“An acquaintance told me about you. I had friends who couldn’t have a second child and, after many clinics, they succeeded with you. We were desperate; in Italy, no one understood my situation. We decided to make the effort to come to Valencia every time… it gave us more hope than continuing to try without success.”

And hope is sometimes the driving force that starts everything.

A complex journey, full of pauses, changes of direction and great resilience

Rosa sums it up clearly:

“The story has been quite complicated… everything has happened.”

After the first consultation, Rosa was asked to undergo a Hysterosalpingography , a diagnostic test that revealed a delicate clinical picture: suspected Adenomyosis, two ovarian cysts, as well as low ovarian reserve and poor oocyte quality.
A difficult scenario that required extreme precision.

Literally, every step was a challenge:
– stimulations with irregular results,
– cycles that had to be stopped,
– a summer break that was unavoidable,
– a change of doctor due to maternity leave—from Dr. Nadia Caroppo to Dr. Adolfo De Prado—,
– a failed cycle because Aldo’s semen quality was altered after COVID.

“In November everything went wrong… what had formed did not reach day 5.” Meanwhile, I underwent a surgical hysteroscopy with you to clean the uterus and restore its natural shape.

Rosa tells it in her own words:

Then came two months of endometrial preparation. Despite the emotional exhaustion, Rosa kept going.

In February, the first transfer of the embryos obtained in October was performed: negative.

And even so, far from giving up, Rosa and Aldo reorganized their path once again.

Dr. De Prados recommended proceeding with Revitalize, the clinic’s own PRGF (plasma rich in growth factors) treatment, along with a new stimulation cycle with preimplantation genetic testing.

“On April 28, I had the egg retrieval. Only one embryo turned out to be viable… but it was an AB+, excellent-quality embryo. That single embryo was Giulio.”

A single embryo. The right one.

Months later, another stimulation cycle did not produce any euploid embryos. Another setback.
But Rosa got back up once again.

Finally, in July 2024, we performed the transfer of the embryo obtained in April.

The embryo that would change everything.

“In the end, we made it… and now Giulio is here with us.”

When Rosa tells us how she felt the day she found out she was pregnant, her emotion goes beyond words. All the trips between Bari and Valencia, every wait, every fear, every decision… suddenly, it all made sense.

“It has been a long and complicated story… but in the end, it worked out.”

Patients like Rosa show us that the strength of hope and perseverance, combined with the value of science and the skill of our doctors in providing precise diagnoses, make it possible to achieve the goal we all share at Equipo Juana Crespo: building families.

As a clinic, accompanying Rosa means accompanying all the women who have ever felt the frustration of not understanding what is happening in their bodies or why they are unable to achieve the long-awaited pregnancy.
It means always committing to personalized medicine, research, precision, and compassionate care.

Today, when we see Giulio María, we remember that science is made of numbers, techniques, and protocols…but also of stories, of intense emotions, of tears that blend with smiles, of second chances.

And it is stories like that of Rosa and Aldo that keep us working with the same passion.
